Jeff Wood, his art, and his life seem to operate like a preordained path that is somehow still unwritten. The very day he graduated with a Visual Communications degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1982, he was hired by a screen print company that worked in the music business. Ever expanding, he left Atlanta in 1985 for a 6 year walkabout, traveling and selling beadwork, carvings, paintings and shirts along the Native Powwow circuit - also doing restoration work on historical Native artifacts, creating Native American Church Fans, and working in the Native community.

When he jumped back into the default world in 1988 he worked his way through it as a screen printer, art director, teacher and author, Burning Man burner, Buddhist, oil painter, and visionary artist. In 1998 Jeff established Drowning Creek Studio with co-founder Judy Gex as purveyors of rock art. Today the work is refocused towards the transformational art movement, as Zen Mystic Studio.

The signature style of Jeff Wood’s art is best imagined as a riff on how Fantasy art and Psychedelia often cross paths. "Mother of Dragons" (screen print, 18" x 24", 2019) began as a years-old sketch dedicated to a love of dragons, specifically baby dragons. Along the way, Athens, GA band Widespread Panic commissioned Jeff for a Las Vegas poster and requested a couple of changes to the original. To better fit a common theme of the band, the dragon was changed to a snake and a sister piece, Serpent Mother, was born. Still in love with the initial idea though, Jeff produced it as an original art print in the Spring of 2019.
