Downtown Above the Arch - 48 piece jigsaw puzzle

Established in 1875, The University of Georgia is the nation's first state-chartered university - and the cast iron Arch bordering North Campus and Downtown Athens, represents both the past and the future. The Arch is modeled after the Georgia state seal featuring the three pillars of wisdom, justice and moderation. To that end, the Arch is a reminder of the university's ties to Georgia as the birthplace of public higher education in America.
Downtown Athens sits just across Broad Street. The vibrant, restored Victorian-era buildings bustle with art galleries, unique shops, world-renowned nightclubs, distinctive dining & a craft brew scene that's lead to Athens becoming a "can't-miss" beer destination.
This gateway seems to represent the heart of the city. A physical representation of the town and the university intersecting - both teeming with life and hope, each from their own unique perspectives. Downtown at the Arch represents a unique blend of traditional heritage and trend-setting Southern culture.
Jamie Calkin received his doctorate from the University of Georgia and was once on track to be a professor of Science Education. Inspired by the use of rich imagery as a teaching tool in the 1949 non-fiction book by American ecologist, forester, and environmentalist Aldo Leopold, "A Sand County Almanac", Calkin began creating and incorporating his own illustrations as an alternative way of learning.
The new teaching style led Calkin to countless water-color and drawing classes. All the while developing his signature style - vibrant colors against a white background with loose black ink outlines. A "mostly self-taught artist" (his words), Calkin began selling his playful renditions of Athens landmarks in 2001 - and today, expands to all of Georgia and beyond, painting scenes from other schools, cities, and various special locations, bringing local surroundings to life.
